Church Without Walls
Harrisburg, PA
The Church Without Walls is a new facility designed to house a congregation of 400–500 people. The path to worship carries the visitor past the south wall of the sanctuary which was constructed with large windows, both to bring natural light into the space and to offer transparency and involvement between the visitor and the religious experience inside. Entering into the central lobby, families are given direct access to the Youth Program, Young Adult Program and the Sanctuary. The Church boasts an energetic and vibrant Youth Program with music, drama and multi-media presentations. The Program is housed in a self contained area with direct kitchen access, dedicated toilet rooms and storage spaces. This facility is expandable with future plans for both a Gymnasium and an expanded Sanctuary.
Every project needs to find a balance between the creation of inspiring and compelling architecture and the need to enclose useful space at the least possible cost. This building is no exception. It utilizes a pre-engineered building which was designed to take full advantage of the economies of that approach; simple massing, inexpensive materials and standardized components.
This facility is currently under construction.
